My friend Robyn shared with me a family recipe for garlic bread recently. I made it and we really enjoyed it, so I asked her if I could share it with you. Her recipe is as follows, I changed a few things because, well that is how I roll.
Three Ingredient Garlic Bread
You melt the butter and add the garlic powder to it. You brush it on one side of the bread. Place you bread back in the packaging to “marinate” overnight. You can also let it set a day or two (but not too long, cause it will mold.) When you are ready to bake, remove the bread from the packaging and slice each piece into 3 or 4 sections, longways. Place on a baking sheet, and bake at your lowest setting for you oven. (mine is 170)
I usually flip mine over every 30-45 mins. Be sure to watch it, cause it will burn. It’s done when it’s crunchy and no longer “soft”. It can take quite a while to toast, so it’s best done when you have a large block of time with nothing to do. I think it takes me about 3 or 4 hours. I usually use 3 large pans and rotate them in the oven. That way I can fix a whole loaf at one time. Oh! I forgot to say that you can use any bread you like. I prefer Sunbeam or Bunny bread, but I’ve used Walmart brand too. We use this like a cracker for dips and spreads. We also eat it plain!
I don’t have a brush in my kitchen so I decided to butter the slices of bread, on both sides. I then sprinkled the garlic powder on just one side. I also cut the pieces of bread into quarters.I toasted it in my oven on 185 degrees for about 2 and a half hours. We ate it with dinner and I also plan to put it in my blender (don’t have a food processor) and make bread crumbs! Yumm!
