This beef stew is great for fall! I love to make some warm biscuits or cornbread to have with this dish. It’s so easy because it is in the crock pot. You only have to mess with it a couple of quick minutes and then it slow cooks the rest of the time. The beef comes out so tender and yummy.
Hearty Beef Stew
Turn the crockpot on high and put ¼ cup of flour inside. Add a palm full of the following spices: onion powder, garlic powder and seasoning salt. Add a dash of salt and about a half palm of pepper. Stir together and add your meat. Stir the meat around to coat with the flour mixture. Add one can of beef stock and one can of water. Let this cook at least two hours on high.
Check your meat after two hours to see if it becoming tender. If not leave it for another hour, if it is turn your crock pot down to low and add your vegetables. Let this cook about an hour and a half or until the vegetables are tender.
I add one potato for every person in our family. I cut mine up into cubes, but you could do what your family is used to. Any kind of potato will do. I used white potatoes, but red potatoes or russet potatoes will work too. This time I found shredded carrots on sale, I have diced up carrots in the past or just cut baby carrots in half to make them smaller.
I keep this dish pretty basic because my family is picky. You could add an onion or other vegetables as well.
