Homemade Corn Dogs

I don’t know about you but my family loves corn dogs! They are so easy to warm up. Great for a quick snack or part of a weeknight meal. Except, they are not very healthy and can get expensive! So I took some time on a Saturday and made up my own. After they cooked and cooled I was able to package them up two at a time and put them in the freezer. Now we have some corn dogs in our freezer to pull out when my son gets home from school or for a quick bite to eat on a weeknight.

Here is what you will need:

Hot dogs
Box of Cornbread

Mix up the package of cornbread as directed. Pour into greased muffin pan 2/3 of the way full. Cut up your hot dogs. I cut mine into fourths. Hint: cut your dogs as even as you can.
Place the hot dogs inside the cornbread mix in the muffin pan. I stood mine up the best I could (vertical), you could put them horizontal as well. Bake them in the oven at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes. Let cool and enjoy. Package leftovers into freezer bags to have on hand for busy week nights or after school snacks.

After my son enjoyed a few for his lunch I packaged the rest up into freezer bags. Since these are small, muffin size I put two in each bag to freeze for later. Warm up is a snap either under the pizza cooker, in the oven/toaster oven or even in the microwave. These corn dogs make a great after school snack! We also like to eat them on busy weeknights when we have meetings. We grab these warm them up and have a fruit or carrots and dip with them. I know your family will love these and they will save you so much money!
