Pinterest Tuesday….Homemade Air Freshners

We are deep into winter. Our houses are closed up, and it’s hard to get cooking smells, pet smells and baby smells out in the winter time. I light candles, frabreeze my couch a couple times a week, but still need something extra to help contain all the smells happening in my closed up house. I came across this super easy pin on Pinterest. I almost didn’t believe it could be this easy to make your own air fresheners.

WP_001008I went off the the health food store to purchase some essential oils, gathered some of the other supplies, turns out I had everything I needed at home.

Baking soda, a few small containers (I had baby food jars, but you could use left over candle jars) essential oil (your choice on this I used lemon eucalyptus) some tulle and ribbon, I also used a rubber band.

Pour the baking soda in the containers about 2/3 of the way. Add 8-10 drops of essential oil and lightly shake. Cut the tulle to fit the top of your jar, use a rubber band to hold in in place and tie the ribbon on so it look nice. Seriously that is it! I totally will be making more of these.

I am definitely making these. I have ALL of the necessary items…especially the jars (I keep saving them for a project)!! Thanks for sharing at frugalfitfamily!

Love your idea of an homemade air freshener, there are so many recipes out there containing Baking Soda.
I can see that you buy in large packets, but in Sweden we have Baking powder and Bicarbonate, both sold in small yars – and expensive too!
If you have some spare time . haha, which creative woman has that? Could you please tell me what the label of ingredients says about Baking Soda?
Then I can compare and maybe find out what to use.
    kind regards
    Eva

Eva – Baking soda is Sodium Bicarbonate. The elements that make up baking soda are Sodium, Hydrogen, Carbon, and Oxygen. I hope this helps.
